PostSubject: A list of Cookie's tricks.   Mon Mar 17, 2008 6:03 pm

Yes, this is a brag.
Cookie's tricks:
Basic Obedience
get out of the kitchen
(she loves to sneak into the kitchen because she's a glutton. She doesn't steal anything though.)
up! (jumps up)
crawl
get it!
(Frisbee command, can also be used for catching other things, like a dumbbell or ball)
office (walks into the schoolroom (I'm homeschooled), which used to be an office)
over(command for hurdle-jumping)
shake (shake hands)
high five
paw
(she will paw at whatever is in front of her, like my arm)
play dead (she has her eyes open though)
go!(used me pointing to something, like her bed)
bow
which one? (I hold both of my hands out (one has a treat in it) and ask her "Which one?". She guesses and tell me her guess by pawing at my hand. This is a real pleaser for guests Very Happy)
wave (I have Cookie do this when we have company, usually)
say your prayers (Not perfect, and we haven't done this one in months)
spin (this one she learned recently)

I may have left out one. If I suddenly remember one, I'll edit the list

move (used when she's in my way)
backup (kinda like move, only in a narrow space where she needs to back out)
drop it
give me a hug

That's 24 tricks! (Unless I counted wrong.)

We have a similar list.
No:
Office
Play dead
Bow
Wave
Spin

But maybe you forgot,
Give
Take
Leave it
Enough
And the ever popular:
"Where is the Ball?"

Cookie can do the drop it command, but she's reluctant to drop it if it is food. I guess that I should add that.

Well, most of the tricks are simple. I can't figure out how to make her hold things for me or how to open things.

Oh, and how could I have forgotten? Cookie can catch a Frisbee then jump a hurdle to bring it to me.

Ah, just a little bit of info... Gideon is still young, and jumping at that age could do damage to his still-growing joints Smile

Cookie does drop the Frisbee too soon sometimes.
She used to be able to jump a 6 foot fence. My dad found that out because once he had given Cookie to my uncle because people were stealing stuff out of his yard. My uncle has a pretty 6 foot fence, and Cookie kept jumping out and wandering all over the roads. So he gave her back.

Cookie learned a new one today...give me hug
She will place her fronts paw on my shoulders (or over my arms if they are around my waist) in this trick. Now she knows 24 tricks! I'll add this one to her official list! Very Happy

I tried to teach Cookie that one, but no matter how close her nose is to the treat, she will turn her head the other way to try to get it instead of rolling. I got Treader to roll, once. Now he won't do it anymore. Neutral
