Cookie seems to be gradually losing her hearing. Sad My dad says that sometimes when he calls her she doesn't seem to hear him. The other night, there was a sound that I heard outside, but Cookie didn't even pay attention to it, while Treader did. Before, Cookie has always alerted us to unusual sounds in the night. Cookie started barking after Treader did, but I don't think she understood why. She just barks whenever Treader barks. My dad had gotten Cookie for protection anyway. It's a good thing that we've got Treader, he has great hearing.
Do you think that Cookie is actually losing her hearing. If she is, will it make a big difference?

how old is she, Belle my other dog, is going deaf im afraid! Trying standing behind her, and call her name lowley, if she hears it then maybe not, but if she doesnt do it louder till she does. Or you could get her checked by a vet. Good Luck, and i hope she is not going deaf!

My female, started losing her hearing when she was 8. Nothing major, but we noticed anyway. After money and tests, we were told that with some it is a natural part of aging. She lived to be 14 before dieing of cancer. She still could hear some, but didn't hear anyone driving in our driveway then. It is best to have her checked, it could be a treatable problem, especially if you noticed a major change all at once.

We're going for yearly shots at the end of this month. I'll ask the vet then.
